A parasite is a micro organism or small animal that lives (temporarily or permanently) on another organism and feeds on it. A parasite cannot live on its own and needs a host to obtain nutrition and dwelling.
There are three main types of parasites that cause disease in humans: protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites. Protozoa and helminths primarily affect the intestine, while ectoparasites encompass organisms - such as lice and mites - can attach to or burrow into the skin and remain there for long periods.
Parasites cause different diseases, attacking organs and tissues of the body. Most of them live in the intestines but can invade other organs such as the liver, heart, and brain.
Parasites are known for causing some serious health issues (and in some cases even lead to death!). The symptoms often are overlooked or mistaken for something else. So here are 4 indications that you may have parasites:
Number one is food sensitivities or food allergies. That is a major indication that there are parasites in the body. The long-term presence of parasites may contribute to the development of food Intolerances. The parasitic toxins cause a blockage of the absorption of food at the level of the intestinal mucosa. A curious fact that almost all parasites present is the food intolerance called "discontinuous," which means that one day you may present a food allergy and the other day you won't.Â
Number two is skin issues. Some parasitic infections can trigger specific skin conditions like ulcers, eczema, dry skin, urticaria, rashes, and pimples.
Number three is any anal itching. The most common symptom of parasites is anal itching, particularly at night, when the worm migrates to the host's anal area to lay its eggs. Pinworm infection is the most common type of intestinal parasite infection in the United States and one of the most common worldwide.
And then the last one. Do you often feel hungry shortly after a meal? Some types of parasites process too many nutrients. Your nutrients. This causes the body to suffer a nutritional deficit, so in these cases, people may feel more hungry than usual, increasing their food consumption.
